In short
- You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time code sent by SMS.
- While you are online, the app collects your precise location, even when the app is in the background or your screen is off, and shows a notification while it does. It uses your location to offer you nearby ride requests, show your position to the rider on your trip, and work out trip distance and fares. It does not collect your location when you are offline.
- To drive with RideGo you give us your driving licence number, its expiry date and a photo or PDF of the licence, plus details and documents for each vehicle. An identity document (Aadhaar, passport or voter ID) is optional.
- Riders on your trip see your name, phone number, profile photo, rating, vehicle model and registration number, and your live location. If a rider shares their trip link, anyone who has the link can see your name, vehicle and live location until the trip ends.
- To pay you, we keep your payout details. Your full bank account number is sent to Razorpay; we keep only its last four digits.
- The app contains no advertising software, and we do not sell your personal information.
- You can delete your account in the app or by email. Your profile details are removed and your driver account is switched off. Some driver, vehicle, payout and payment records are kept (sections 6 and 7).
1. Who this covers
This policy applies to the RideGo Captain driver app for Android (package name com.ridgo.partner), which is free to download and is operated by RideGo Enterprises (also trading as RideGo Services), a sole proprietorship of Kanna Rajasekhar (“we”, “us”). You can reach us through the details in section 11.
It does not cover the RideGo customer app, which has its own customer app privacy policy, or this website, which is covered by the website privacy notice.
2. Information we collect
Some of this you give us directly. Some the app collects from your phone while you use it. Some comes from riders, for example ratings.
| Information | What we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account and profile | Mobile phone number (used to sign in with a one-time code), full name, gender and date of birth. Optionally an email address and a profile photo. Your referral code and who you referred or were referred by, if you use referrals. | Creating and securing your account, identifying you to riders, checking the minimum age, and referral rewards. |
| Location | Precise (GPS-based) and approximate location from your phone, with your direction of travel and the accuracy of the reading. The app collects it while you are online, including when the app is in the background or your screen is off, and sends it to our servers as you move, about every 5 to 20 seconds depending on whether you are on a trip. On your driver profile we keep only your latest position; each new one replaces the previous one. While you are online we also keep your latest position in an index used to find nearby drivers, and we remove it from the index when you go offline. The app does not collect your location while you are offline. | Offering you nearby ride requests, showing your position to the rider on your trip, working out trip distance and fares, and rider and driver safety. |
| Driving licence and identity | Your driving licence number, its expiry date, and a photo or PDF of the licence. Optionally, from your Profile: an identity document type (Aadhaar, passport or voter ID), its number, and photos or PDFs of the front and back. We also record the review status of your documents and, if one is rejected, the reason. | Checking that you are eligible to drive for RideGo, and preventing fraud. |
| Vehicle | For each vehicle: its type, whether it is electric, registration number, make, model, colour and year; photos or PDFs of the registration certificate and insurance with their expiry dates; and a photo of the vehicle. If you have more than one vehicle, which one is active. | Verifying the vehicle, showing riders which vehicle to look for, and matching you with the right kind of ride. |
| Payout details | Your account holder name, and either a UPI ID or a bank account (account number and IFSC code). We keep the holder name, IFSC code, UPI ID and only the last four digits of a bank account number. The full account number is sent to Razorpay when your payout account is set up. | Paying your earnings to you. |
| Earnings and payouts | For each completed trip, the fare, RideGo’s commission and your earnings; your earnings summary; your withdrawal requests and their status; and settlement and payout records with Razorpay references. | Working out and paying your earnings, accounting, and resolving payment queries. |
| Trips and performance | For each trip you are offered or accept: pickup and drop-off addresses and coordinates, vehicle type, times, fare, status, and who cancelled and why. The rating, feedback and tags a rider gives you, with the rider’s name. Counts of rides offered, accepted, completed and cancelled, your average rating, and how long you are online each day. | Running the trip, working out fares, showing you your history and ratings, choosing which drivers are offered a request, and handling disputes and safety reports. |
| Places you save | If you use the “rides on my way” destination mode: the destination you choose, and any places you save, such as home or work, with their address and coordinates. | Offering you rides that move you towards the destination you chose. |
| Riders’ details | During a trip you receive the rider’s name and phone number, pickup and drop-off, live location and chat messages (and, on a shared trip, those of each rider). After a trip you can rate the rider; your rating and feedback are stored with the trip. | Finding and reaching the rider and completing the trip. Please use this information only for the trip. |
| Safety reports | If you press SOS: the trip it relates to, the category and the time. | Letting our safety team see the report and follow up. |
| Messages and support | Chat messages with riders during a trip, and support requests including any screenshots or photos you attach. | Helping you and the rider during a trip, resolving issues, and answering your questions. |
| Photos and files you choose | Only what you pick: a profile photo from your gallery, a support attachment, or a licence, vehicle or identity document (an image or PDF of up to 5 MB, chosen with Android’s file picker). The app does not browse your photos or files. | The feature you used them for. |
| Device and diagnostics | A random identifier the app creates when it is first installed, your device platform, the app version, your push-notification token, and crash and performance reports (error details, device model, operating-system version and app version). Like any app that talks to servers, our systems and providers also receive your IP address. | Keeping your session secure, sending notifications, and finding and fixing faults. |
| Stored on your phone | Your sign-in session is kept in secure storage backed by the Android Keychain. A few app settings, such as your theme and whether you have answered the location prompt, are kept in the app’s local storage. | Keeping you signed in and remembering your choices. |
3. How we use information
- To create your account, sign you in and keep your session secure.
- To check your documents and vehicle, and to decide whether you can go online.
- To offer you ride requests, show riders where you are, and work out distance, fares and your earnings.
- To pay your earnings, and to keep payment and accounting records.
- To send notifications about ride requests, trips, earnings and safety alerts, and announcements from RideGo.
- To provide safety features, such as SOS and safety reports.
- To answer support requests and handle disputes.
- To detect fraud and misuse, and to keep the service secure.
- To find and fix errors and measure how well the app performs.
How ride requests are offered. When a rider asks for a ride, our system automatically ranks the drivers who are online and nearby, and offers the request to the best-ranked ones first. The ranking uses how far you are from the pickup and how long it would take you to get there, how long you have been waiting, your rating, how often you accept and cancel the requests offered to you, whether the trip is in the direction you are heading, and whether your vehicle matches the request. No person decides this for each request.
The app contains no advertising or ad-tracking software, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Who receives your information
Riders
Once you are assigned a trip, the rider sees your name, phone number, profile photo, average rating, vehicle make and model and registration number, and your live location. Riders can also message you in the app during the trip.
Trip links. A rider can share a link to follow their trip. Anyone who has the link can see your name, your vehicle model and registration number and your live location, without signing in. The link works only while you are assigned to the trip, until it is completed or cancelled, and expires after at most 12 hours.
RideGo staff
Authorised RideGo staff can view account, driver, vehicle, document, ride, earnings, payout, support, chat and safety records through our admin tools, so that they can verify drivers, support riders and drivers, pay earnings and review safety reports.
Service providers
We use the following providers to run the app. They receive only what is needed for the purpose shown.
| Provider | What it receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Maps, Places, Directions and Geocoding) | Map requests, your search text, and coordinates or addresses, including your location, sent from the app to look up places, routes and addresses. | Maps, navigation, place search and address lookup. |
| Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Your device’s push-notification token and the notification content. | Delivering ride requests and other notifications. |
| Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Firestore database and Cloud Storage) | The information described in section 2 that we store, and the documents and photos you upload. | Hosting the RideGo service and its data. |
| Razorpay (RazorpayX payouts) | Your account holder name, your UPI ID or bank account number and IFSC code, a RideGo reference for your driver account, and the amount and status of each payout. | Verifying your payout account and paying your earnings. Razorpay keeps its own records under its own policy, including after you delete your account. |
| SMS delivery provider | Your mobile number and the one-time code. | Sending your sign-in code. |
| Upstash (managed Redis) | While you are online: your driver ID, latest position, vehicle type and availability, and the live trip updates that pass between the app, our server and the rider’s app. Also short-lived counters used to limit repeated requests. | Finding nearby drivers quickly, delivering live updates, and protecting the service from abuse. |
| Sentry | Crash reports and performance data from the app. | Finding and fixing faults. |
Where the law requires
We may disclose information where the law requires it.
5. Permissions the app asks for
Each permission is requested on your phone, and you can change it at any time in Android settings. Declining a permission may stop the related feature from working.
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Precise and approximate location, including “all the time” (background) access | Offering you nearby ride requests, showing your position to the rider on your trip, working out distance and fares, and safety. The app asks for access “all the time” because it keeps collecting your location while you are online and the app is in the background or your screen is off. Before Android asks, the app explains this and asks you to agree. Collection stops when you go offline. |
| Foreground service (location) | Keeps the app running so that location updates continue while you are online. Android shows a notification for as long as it runs, and it stops when you go offline. |
| Notifications | Ride requests, trip updates, earnings and safety alerts, and announcements from RideGo. |
| Internet and network state | Communicating with our servers and with the providers in section 4. |
The app does not ask for permission to use your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar or text messages. Documents and photos are chosen through Android’s file and photo pickers, so the app does not need broad access to your files.
The app’s listing may also show permissions such as biometric authentication, vibration, wake lock, receive-boot-completed, install referrer and push-message receipt. These are added automatically by software libraries the app includes, for example for secure storage, notifications and push messaging. The app does not use your fingerprint or face data.
To fill in a one-time code, the app can use Google’s SMS User Consent prompt. Android then asks whether you want to share that one message with the app. The app does not have permission to read your text messages.
6. How long we keep information
- While your account is active. We keep your account details, driver and vehicle records, documents, payout details, trip and earnings history, ratings, support requests and chat so that the app can work. There is no automatic expiry of these while the account exists.
- Your location. We keep only your latest position on your driver profile. Each new position replaces the previous one.
- Sign-in codes and expired sessions. Our server includes a scheduled clean-up job that removes expired sign-in codes and expired sessions.
- After you delete your account. Your sign-in sessions and personal profile details are removed straight away and your driver account is switched off. Other driver, vehicle, payout and payment records are not removed automatically. They are kept for the reasons and periods in the table in section 7, and you can ask us to delete the ones that are not needed for those reasons.
7. Your choices, your rights and deleting your account
Choices in the app
- Update your profile, licence, vehicle documents and payout account in the app. Some details cannot be changed once they have been approved; contact support to change those.
- Turn notification types on or off (ride updates, promotions, earnings updates and emergency alerts) in the app’s notification settings.
- Go offline at any time. The app then stops collecting your location and removes you from the list of available drivers.
- Allow or withdraw location and notification access in Android settings. Without location access you cannot receive ride requests.
Access, correction and erasure
You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, to correct it, or to erase it. Email support@ridego.app and tell us what you need. We check that the request comes from the account holder first, and then tell you what we have done and what we are keeping (see the table below).
Deleting your account
There are two ways:
- In the app: Profile, then Settings, then Delete Account, then confirm.
- By email: write to support@ridego.app, as described on the Captain account deletion page. We check that the request comes from the account holder before we act. The app is the more secure route, because it checks a one-time code sent to your phone.
What happens straight away. Your sign-in sessions and any pending sign-in codes are removed, so every device is signed out, and your notification token is removed. The personal details on your account are removed: your name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, gender, referral code and the link to your profile photo. Your driver account is switched off: you go offline, stop receiving ride requests, and are removed from the list of available drivers.
What is kept. The records below are not removed automatically when you delete your account. Records that riders hold about their own past trips, such as a rating they gave you, may still show your name as it was when they were created.
| Records | Why they are kept | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Driver verification records: licence number and expiry, licence photo, identity document details and photos if you added them, and the review status | To prevent fraud, to deal with safety complaints, and to answer authorities or riders about who was driving. | Until we delete them. You can ask us to delete them at any time; we will, unless we need them for an open complaint or claim or the law requires us to keep them. |
| Vehicle records: registration number, make, model, colour and year, and the registration certificate, insurance and vehicle photos | The same reasons. | Until we delete them, on the same terms. |
| Your driver profile record, switched off, including its last known position, rating, statistics, destination-mode settings and saved places | So that trip, rating and payment records still make sense, and to prevent fraud. | Until we delete it, on the same terms. |
| Support requests and their attachments, chat messages, and the photos and files you uploaded, including your profile photo | To deal with complaints, disputes and safety questions. | Until we delete them, on the same terms. |
| Payout details: account holder name, IFSC code, UPI ID and the last four digits of a bank account number | To deal with payout queries and keep accounting records. | Until we delete them, on the same terms, and not before the financial records below have been kept for their period. |
| Trips, earnings, settlements, withdrawals and ratings | To keep accurate financial records and to deal with payment, payout and rating queries. | At least 3 years from the date of each record. |
| Safety reports | To deal with safety complaints and claims. | At least 3 years from the date of each record. |
Payouts are processed by Razorpay, which keeps its own records of payments under its own policy. We cannot delete those records.
When deletion is not possible. An account cannot be deleted while a ride is in progress, or while you have earnings that have not been paid out yet. The app tells you which, and nothing is deleted. Finish the ride, or withdraw your earnings or contact support about them, and then delete the account.
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
8. How we protect information
- The release app blocks unencrypted (HTTP) connections, so data is sent to our servers over HTTPS.
- Your sign-in session is kept in secure storage backed by the Android Keychain.
- You sign in with a one-time code, and sessions can be ended, including when an account is deleted.
- Documents you upload for verification are kept in Google Cloud Storage. Our staff open them through access links that expire after 15 minutes.
- We do not keep your full bank account number; only the last four digits.
- Staff access is through admin tools that require a staff sign-in.
No system can be made perfectly secure. If you think your account has been misused, contact us using the details in section 11.
9. Children
The RideGo Captain app is meant for people aged 18 and over. When you sign up, the app asks for your date of birth and does not accept one that would make you under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will review it.
10. Where information is processed
Our server runs on Google Cloud in the Mumbai region. The other providers in section 4 run their own systems, and some of them may process information outside India.
11. Changes and how to contact us
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
